Count of rooftop-PV financial incentive programmes (rebates, grants, loans, tax exemptions and performance payments) listed by DSIRE, N.C. Clean Energy Technology Center, NC State University, fetched 2026-09-16, licensed CC BY-SA 4.0. A count is not a value: one generous statewide rebate is worth more than ten small utility ones. Questions

Which state has the most solar incentives?

Colorado, with 24 rooftop solar financial incentive programmes listed by DSIRE (12 statewide), as of 2026-09-16. Maryland has 20 and Texas 19. Many are run by individual utilities, so check which apply to your address.

Are there still solar incentives after the federal tax credit ended?

Yes, at state, utility and local level. The 30% federal residential credit ended for systems completed after 31 December 2025, but DSIRE still lists 275 financial incentive programmes for rooftop solar across the states, though 4 states list none.

The one lever that actually moves the price

Three competing quotes beat any amount of comparing panel brands

Sales cost and margin are over a third of an installed price, and they are the part that competition removes. A single quote from whoever reached you first is how people end up in the top quarter of what their neighbours paid.

When the numbers move
