The solar you can actually buy off a shelf
None of this is a rooftop system. Nobody sells one of those on Amazon, and most of what an installed array costs is labour and paperwork rather than hardware. What is on a shelf is the adjacent market, and some of it is genuinely worth owning.
Why there are no rooftop panels on this page
An 8 kW rooftop system costs around $30,000 installed. Buy the modules alone and you are looking at perhaps a sixth of that. The rest is the crew, the design, the permit, the inspection, the utility interconnection, the sales cost and the margin, and none of it comes in a box.
So putting an affiliate link to a pallet of panels next to a $30,000 figure would imply a connection that does not exist. If you want an array on your roof, get quotes and hold them against what people in your state actually paid. That is what this site is for.
What follows is the other thing: portable power, 12V and off-grid kit, and the instruments worth owning before you spend five figures on anything.
Portable power
A power station is a battery, an inverter and a set of sockets in one box. It is what most people mean when they say solar generator, and it is the only kind of solar most households will ever plug in themselves. It will not run your house. It will keep a fridge, a router and some lights going through an outage, which for a lot of people is the whole point.
