Built to be read
This is a reference site. If someone cannot read it, it has failed at the only thing it does. We aim at WCAG 2.2 level AA.
What we have done
Specifics, not assurances
- Every page is server-rendered HTML with a real heading structure. Nothing waits on JavaScript to become readable.
- Colour is never the only carrier of meaning. Where a figure is good or bad, the number and its label say so too.
- Body and interface text meet AA contrast against their backgrounds, in both the light and dark themes.
- The site follows your system light or dark preference rather than forcing one.
- Every interactive element is reachable by keyboard and shows a visible focus ring.
- Charts carry text alternatives describing what they show, and the same figures appear as text nearby.
- Wide tables scroll inside their own container, so the page body never scrolls sideways on a phone.
- Animation is minimal and respects prefers-reduced-motion.
- Form fields have real labels, required fields are marked in text as well as colour, and errors are announced.
Where it falls short
Known limits
The generation curves and the range bars on the cost page are visual by nature. Each carries a description and the underlying numbers are printed as text beside it, but a reader using a screen reader gets the figures rather than the shape.
The calculator uses range sliders. They are keyboard operable and labelled, but if you would rather type exact numbers than drag, tell us and we will add text inputs.
